Happy New Year!
Dear Students and Parents, I'd like to thank you all for helping us have an amazing year in 2B in 2014.  Thank you again for the presents and all your kind words - I was humbled by it all.  I will be teaching a Year 3 class next year so I will be in contact with your teachers to keep updated about you all.

Good luck for Year 3!

Studyladder
2B has joined Studyladder.  This is an online learning page where children can participate in interactive activities and lessons to support what they have been learning at school.  I have listed some English and Maths tasks which children may choose to do to support their revision.

More tasks have been added to Studyladder to support class work.  I recommend for every child to have a go on at least some of these tasks, they will be very helpful for revision too.

Welcome to Grade 2!
I hope you're looking forward to continuing your learning journey in Grade 2.  I will do my best to keep this Class Update page current so you can look on here for anything new happening in our class/school.  You can sign up to be notified by email when new things are added onto our blog.  Just go on our main class blog page and enter your email address in the box on the right side of the screen.

This blog's purpose is to keep parents informed and active in their child's learning.  Students will also be using the blog to access specific interactive activities and videos relevant to what they are learning in class.  As part of Maths, children will be working in groups according to their ability, one of the activities groups will have is to play interactive maths activities to keep them engaged in their learning.  All online media (which doesn't require my password) which I use in class will be recorded under each subject.  Students may choose to use this to help them with their revision or to further understand each topic.

I have introduced Class Dojo in 2B this year.  This is a program where I can keep track of children's behaviour and award positive (and negative) points.  Each week an automated email will be sent to parents (parents must log onto Class Dojo first and create an account using the password sent out) outlining the reasons why their child got their award.

Please note that this blog and Class Dojo is just something extra which I am doing with our class.  Other teachers have different methods of keeping children and parents engaged in and informed about school.

If you have any concerns or queries you are always welcome to set a meeting with me before or after school, alternatively I regularly check my emails so you can also email me at ehill@amitycollege.com

Kind regards,
Miss Emma Hill

Frontrower program
2B is trialling a new Maths program which allows each student to work at their own level across all maths units e.g. Addition & subtraction, geometry etc.  Students will first sit a mini test in each unit/domain and after that they can complete work at their level.  Students are able to watch videos, use manipulatives, view how similar questions are solved and draw on the page to work each question out.  Students will receive 'coins' and stars after completing work which they can purchase clothing for their pig avatar.

It is not a requirement for students to use this program at home, however I do encourage children to use it to extend their maths skills.
